Build confidence sketching a variety of subjects using pen & ink techniques. Then add watercolour to enhance your drawings. Great for sketching on the spot, in “plein air” or travel sketching. Weather permitting, we will do a field trip to do some “plein air” sketching.

Join me as we approach watercolour with a bit of abandon. For students with some painting experience. With guided instruction, we will create a look of spontaneity in our painting. Once armed with knowledge and mastery of techniques designed to loosen up your painting style, you can freely explore this elusive medium. Bring supplies to first class.

Students with some watercolour painting experience are welcome to join in this session. Demonstration of basic techniques and practices. Review basic skills or work on your own with regular critiques and feedback. Reference images will be provided for a variety of skill levels or you are welcome to bring your own.

For beginner and experienced artists! Each week we will create a new art project using watercolour, mixed media/collage. Participants are encouraged to exercise creativity using basic compositional elements. Make art you can frame, give as gifts or as cards! Bring supplies to first class.

Wednesday 6-8 pm
July 8-29

Learn to use watercolour to enhance your sketches, whether you sketch in pencil or ink. Demonstration will include mixing and applying colours using a limited palette, how to use wet on wet and layering without overworking. Learn to create a feeling of space and light for your drawings by leaving areas white, adding shadows and creating contrasts with your colours. Reference photos supplied or bring your own.
