Learn to mix the colours you need for almost any subject. Class will include demonstration and hands on practice using a limited palette of colours. We will also complete a small abstract painting using the colour mixes we’ve practiced.

Monday, May 25 - June 22
1-3 pm (5 wks)

Learn the steps to create a successful painting. Practice colour mixing, brush strokes, blending techniques, and more. Work from reference photos provided, or bring your own. Experienced gouache painters are welcome to attend, however instruction will be in acrylic.

Session 2: Tuesday, May 26 - June 23 (5 wks); 10am-12pm 

Learn the basics required to paint with this enjoyable medium. Classes include demonstration and practice exercises, as well as step-by-step instruction to complete some easy painting projects. Bring supplies to first class.

Session 2: Thursday, May 28 - June 25 (5 wks); 12:30-2:30 pm 

Urban sketching (usually on the spot) includes a variety of subjects, from table top items to people & pets, to natural elements, to all kinds of street scenes. In this course, we will ink our sketches, then apply loose watercolour washes to enhance the completed sketch. Reference images will be supplied, but you are welcome to bring your own.

Friday, April 10 & 17 (2 wks)
9:30 am-12 pm

For students with some watercolour painting experience. Learn to paint florals, full of life and expression. Practice techniques to simplify and loosely apply watercolours, including brush work to merge shapes, achieve a variety of hard and soft edges, colour exploration, and mark making. Draw and paint from provided photos plus your own references.

Make your own hand made seasonal cards with ink and watercolour. Class includes demonstration of basic watercolour application after completing a drawing with pencil, then outlining with permanent ink pen. Supplies included, or bring your own.

For beginner and experienced artists! Each week we will create a new art project using watercolour, mixed media and/collage. Make art you can frame, give as gifts or as cards! Bring supplies to first class.
